Terry Lyons was one of the NBA’s key media spokesmen for domestic issues through much of the league’s glory years of the 1980s and ‘90s. He was a vital part of the league’s international growth from the 1992 Barcelona Olympics through the Olympic qualifying tournament in 2007.
Lyons is available as a guest speaker for corporate functions, sports management lectures and sports marketing panels and workshops. He speaks on a variety of topics, including: the Globalization of the NBA; Sports and the Media; History of the Olympics and USA Basketball; the Global Impact of the 1992 Dream Team; Media Training for Athletes; Sports Marketing and Communications; Brand Management, International Media Outreach; the Positive Power of Community Service Initiatives; and Sports and its Impact on Foreign Relations.
Lyons excels in the “Q&A” or “Town Meeting” format where no questions are off limits or off the record. He enjoys the give and take over a morning breakfast seminar or an informal lunch meeting for sports marketing executives. He feels equally comfortable addressing undergraduates or graduate students in the classroom setting and has spoken at Boston University's Graduate School of Management, New England School of Law, Seton Hall University, the University of Massachusetts, NYU, and Adelphi University.
He speaks each year at St. John’s COACH program, where undergraduates from the school’s sports management program experience a full day immersed in the industry of sports with alumni of the New York school.
